Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame
The Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame serves as the highest award for Denver’s travel industry – which registered its best year ever in 2011 with 13.3 million overnight visitors, generating more than $3.3 billion in spending. The industry supports 50,000 jobs in the metro area. Since 1999, a very select group of men and women have been honored for the outstanding contributions they have made to this industry.
New members are inducted at the annual Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame dinner, a
fundraising event for the VISIT DENVER Foundation, which has distributed hundreds of thousands of
dollars in scholarship funds to Colorado students pursing higher education in the field of travel and tourism. Nominations are submitted by
VISIT DENVER members, with the final selection made by a committee comprised of past
chairs of the VISIT DENVER Board of Directors.
This year's Tourism Hall of Fame inductees are Barry Fey (Feyline), Lewis Sharp (Denver Art Museum), Sid Wilson (A Private Guide).
This year's Tourism Star Award recipients are the Denver Art Museum for Yves Saint Laurant and Becoming Van Gogh, Denver Zoo for the Toyota Elephant Passage, History Colorado Center, Women’s Final Four and Denver International Airport and United Airlines.
Nominations for the Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame originate from peers, co-workers and members of the tourism and hospitality industry in the Mile High City.
